"Do not be afraid, I am with you"
"Isn't it something beautiful and awesome
for us parishioners to have a Chapel where the Blessed Sacrament is exposed
and we can spare some of our time with our precious Lord Jesus and experience
His love?
It was 11th November 2005 when, as usual, I sat before the Blessed Sacrament
in silence. Deep down in my heart the words "Do not be afraid, I am with
you" came strongly to me. I could not understand what was in store for
me. All the same, I praised and thanked the Lord for His loving and consoling
words. That very night, all of a sudden, my left foot became numb. When it was
midnight, my left hand and gradually my whole left side became numb. My blood
pressure shot put to 200 and my sugar level rose to 250. I did not have diabetes
before. I staggered as I walked to the Hospital. I was not ready to get into
a rickshaw or into a cab as I fully trusted my Lord and the very words "Do
not be afraid, I am with you" were ringing in my ears. I could neither
pray nor was I afraid about what was going on. I kept on praising and thanking
the Lord for what I was going through.
The doctor said that I was suffering from a Stroke and after an M.R.I. scan,
a clot was detected moving towards the brain. Next 48 hours were critical for
me and I was kept under observation. Every time the Cardiologist and the Neurologist
examined me, they said that I had a lot of power in me. It was none other than
the power of the Holy Spirit and the prayers of my brothers and sisters. I was
under medical treatment in the Hospital for a week. The doctors discharged me
after my complete recovery but warned me that these things do recur if proper
care and diet is not taken.
I thank and praise my Lord. I am well till this day and can walk once again
without any support. When we spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament,
reach out to Him in faith and surrender to Him our problems, we will find ourselves
more peaceful and more able to walk through whatever challenges we are facing,
with hope and trust in the Lord.
